Zoraida Payne :: Original Decorative Art My painting is inspired by the art that I absorbed growing up in my homeland, Argentina, specifically a style known as Fileteado*. Numerous visits to art galleries and painter’s studios with my Dad and the memories of my Mom painting come back to life in my compositions. I love the dancing of flowers on the canvas. It seems that there are always more petals and stems to be brought to life. I see happy flowers everywhere and they bring a smile to my face! In every stroke I try to bring back all these emotions over everyday household items. I love to paint them in trays, teapots, glasses, dinnerware, light switch covers... You name it I'll paint it. I hope that everybody that encounters these pieces appreciate a little bit of my home culture mixed with the experiences of a wife, mother of three, and a Spanish teacher. In Buenos Aires Fileteado had its origin in the decoration of cars and trucks of the grocer, milkmen and bakers, spreading to blood-drive vehicles, then on to other trucks and buses that fill the city. |
