Valerie Hebert - Coronado Fiber Artist and Painter
Valerie Hebert:: Fiber Art and Painting
Valerie Rosenthal Hebert is a versatile artist, equally at home in her painting or fiber studio. It was the time spent at the craft and sewing table with her mom that established her as a fiber artist.
Aside from painting, Val works mainly with discarded wool sweaters. After felting, or fulling the wool fiber, Val refashions the wool fabric into new sweaters, purses, pillows, even jewelry. Needle felted details are often added, which is a way of painting with fiber. The result is a unique, wearable piece of art.
An active artist in her community, Val has been featured in local newspaper and magazine articles in the San Diego and Coronado, California area. Val has also been featured in many Stampington Publications, including Haute Handbags, Altered Couture, Jewelry Affaire, and Belle Armoire.
